Day 12 - Washington to Boston

We loved our time in Washington - it was a very impressive city and we both thought it felt like a very powerful city too (although that may be just because we know a bit more of the history). We loved the architecture and how the city has been thought out and planned. We also appreciated the knowledge shared - we've learnt so much. We also now know what their number plates mean... "Taxation without representation" - they pay taxes and yet they do not have a representative in the Senate and therefore, do not have a vote. I'll stop with the history and facts now!

So today was a day of travel - we left Washington early by train, bound for Boston. We grabbed breakfast at the station and I just had to share this with you... we ordered the smallest coffee and this was it (I put Troy's iPhone next to it so you can see the size)... It looked like an extra large from back home! (Can you tell I don't have much to write for today??)

Anyway, the train left on time and we grabbed a good seat up the front (we went business class again as it was an 8 hour trip - lucky I had a blog from the day before to write!) The seats were actually quite comfortable and with power and WiFi, we were set.

A couple of stations in there was an announcement that another train had broken down and the passengers were joining us - it was standing room only in some parts of the train. Lucky we had seats! Once the train arrived in New York, it cleared out a lot.

So we passed through a number of towns and there were some really pretty spots and some great looking houses! Troy thought the houses and areas looked like he expected. We went through Connecticut, Rhode Island and then into Massachusetts. It snowed on and off and it has been quite a cold, dreary and overcast day, so we didn't mind being stuck in the train all day. I tried to take a pic of it snowing, but I don't think it came out that well...

I also tried to take some pics of houses we went by, but I missed some really cute towns as I wasn't quick enough with the camera and the train was going too fast... here's my attempt though...

The trip seemed to go fairly quickly though and we're now in Boston. Troy is rapt that it seems each city we visit, there's an extra sports channel! I write the blog, he watches sport. Our hotel is nice and in a good position and we have a lovely room - probably our best room on the trip so far. It's freezing though, our coldest city to date I think and the expected top is 3 degrees with a low on -5! At least it's meant to be sunny!

Happy St Patrick's Day everyone! (For Sunday)
